This album has a song for everyone—whether you are in love, heartbroken, moving on, just having fun, or need a little motivation for your day. For any singer-songwriter, each song holds a special place in their heart, but can you guess Jascel’s favorites from the album?
Take a moment to listen to Dekada and see if you can figure out his favorites:
“Isang Tulad Mo” (“Someone Like You”)
2. “One Time”
“Layo” (“Go Away”)
“Making Moves”
“Sumabay” ft. K-Lv (“Follow Along”)
“Baliw Sayo” ft. K-Lv and Romer (“Crazy Over You”)
“Busy”
What’s your guess? Was it “Making Moves” or “Sumabay”? If you said either one, you got it right! “Making Moves” tells the story of someone continuing to “make moves” and chase their dreams despite adversity, even if it means doing it alone. It is definitely a track to listen to when you need motivation, whether you are at the gym or contemplating life.
Meanwhile, “Sumabay” introduces the iconic catchphrase, “Drop that beat, Nerdie!” popularized by his nephew. Inspired by Ciara’s “1, 2 Step,” Jascel invites everyone to join the dance and follow along, no matter their dance experience. This fun, catchy song caught the attention of Mastermind, a popular Filipino dance group, who created a trending dance challenge for it! Of course, Nerdie had to submit his own entry for the challenge. If you haven't yet, it's definitely not too late to try! If you do, make sure to tag Nerdie (@jascelvalencia) on TikTok!
Well, that brings our reminiscing to an end. But don’t worry—Nerdie is working hard to release a new album soon for you to enjoy! For now, keep streaming his album Dekada and his other singles on YouTube and Spotify.
